Brownsville Police Kills Man During Chase

The Texas Rangers will investigate an early morning incident when the Brownsville Police Department killed a 20-year-old man after a chase while the suspect allegedly struck several police units.
According to a press release issued by Brownsville Police Chief Felix Sauceda, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 1:34 a.m. on a vehicle linked to a call of an assault.
The suspect was identified as Mark Anthony Galvan who was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The confrontation happened roughly on the 1100 block of Boca Chica Blvd.
“Officers attempted to conduct the traffic stop but the vehicle didn’t stop, leading officers on a chase,” the press release said. “The vehicle rammed several police units and that is when police discharged their duty weapons at the subject driving the vehicle.”
In the same press release, the police chief said the Texas Rangers arrived at the scene and it’s taken over the investigation.
