Brownsville One Of 25 Safest Places to Live in 2019

A U.S. News & World Report published on Monday recognized the City by the Sea as one of the safest places to live in the nation.
Brownsville ranked 16 among the 25 cities mentioned in the publication as one of the 25 Safest Places to Live in the U.S. in 2019.
According to the magazine, the report uses information compiled from the 2017 FBI Crime Report that shows a decrease in crime rate.
“The Brownsville Police Department stands committed and dedicated to public safety,” said Brownsville Police Chief Felix Sauceda, Jr. “We will continue to foster and nurture partnerships with our community.”
The police chief added that the department will ensure safety and promote quality of life issues. “Together, our officers and community partners have made Brownsville one of the safest cities in the nation,” he said. “Although these numbers are strong, the responsibility of preserving the quality of life for our community remains. We must continue to work together towards striving for a safer community.”
In Texas, two other cities were mentioned, Austin, 23, and El Paso, 14, respectively.
The best city was Portland, Maine.
