Trump Eliminates DACA, Another Obama Success

Espinoza’s Outlook

It seems like President Donald Trump’s disdain for former President Barak Obama continues without avail. All the good things Obama created or undertook to make things better for regular folks are vanishing under the Republican president. The president today decided to abolish the Deferred Action

undertook to make things better for regular folks are vanishing under the Republican president. The president today decided to abolish the Deferred Action

of Childhood Arrivals, better known as DACA, a program that allows children of undocumented immigrants the right to work and study while they get a

reprieve from deportation.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the end of the Obama-era program that offered temporary legal status to young unauthorized immigrants.

Ironically, Sessions stated it was “the compassionate thing to do.”

Trump is backtracking after saying he supported these children, also known as

“dreamers.”  They were too young to know the consequences after they were brought into the country by their parents.

But, Trump is also making things worse for American citizens in general.

Trump has taken a hard-line with the environment, taking the United States out of international climate change agreements, and promised to get rid of

Obama Care, another program that helped more than 20 million people to get healthcare.

DACA has provided nearly 800,000 young immigrants the ability to work legally in the United States. These are young people, who most likely speak

English, and who already contribute to the economy with taxes.

Throwing the ball to Congress, Trump recently tweeted, “Congress, get ready to do your job – DACA!”

If Congress doesn’t pass new legislation within six months in favor of the “dreamers,” they will lose protection and they can be deported.

Trump is trying to wash his hands after implying that he wasn’t going to do anything to undermine DACA.

In January, Trump said he was approaching the issue “with great heart.”

Then, he changed course again.

“Make no mistake, we’re going to put the interest of American Citizens First,” Trump, in his customary tweets, said. “The forgotten men and women will

no longer be forgotten.”

However, Trump’s previous affirmations to get rid of Obama Care and climate change and gas reductions speak louder than his support for hard-working

Americans.

The president is still playing to his uncompromising right-wing base, a group that like Trump despises all the achievements Obama made. This group of

fanatics, which includes Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis types, believes in an intolerant agenda rather a rational and national one for all Americans.
