Volunteers Needed To Build City Playground
By J. Noel Espinoza/Rio Grande Info
In partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and KaBOOM!, Brownsville is hosting a playground Build Day on Saturday, November 14, at Prax Orive Jr. Park, 1245 Palm Boulevard.
Nested near downtown, the park is a haven for joggers, walkers, and nature lovers. It’s a sanctuary for ducks and a variety of birds that live in the city’s resacas.
Also known as Sunrise Rotary Park, Prax Orive Jr. Park was selected as a recipient of the “Build It With KaBOOM!,” a playground grant opportunity received in July.
Primarily funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, the customized playground will replace outdated equipment, providing youth with an age-appropriate place to play, city officials said.
Brownsville officials ask the community to help give kids the childhood they deserve by helping build the new playground.
